Lendlease joins ResponsibleSteel™

ResponsibleSteel welcomes Lendlease as a new Member. Lendlease is an international property and infrastructure group with core expertise in shaping cities and creating strong and connected communities.

Sustainability has long been a focus for the company. In fact, founder Dick Dusseldorp spoke of the importance of considering social and environmental impacts, alongside the economic, as early as 1973. Lendlease is committed to leading the evolution of its industry to be truly sustainable – environmentally, socially and economically – which it views as fundamental to its vision to create the best places, meeting the needs of people today and for generations to come.

Cate Harris, Group Head of Sustainability and Lendlease Foundation, Lendlease, said: “Membership of ResponsibleSteel gives us the opportunity to work alongside our supply chain to address pressing global challenges that matter to us, such as climate change and human rights. As a large customer in the steel sector, supporting the development of the ResponsibleSteel Standard is both our responsibility and a powerful way for us to be part of the evolution of the steel industry. We believe achieving the level of transformation needed will require an aligned, collaborative effort of all parties in the value chain. We hope to see our peers, clients and competitors join us as members so together we can accelerate the development of truly responsible steel.”

Matthew Wenban-Smith, Executive Director of ResponsibleSteel, said: “We were thrilled to welcome Lendlease as a new Member at Forum II in December and look forward to benefitting from the organisation’s infrastructure expertise.”
