ResponsibleSteel™ marks another year with DNV-GL as its Technical Partner.

ResponsibleSteel™ is delighted to announce our continuing collaboration with DNV-GL, providing independent expert technical advice on the development of the standard.

Jens Peters, Regional Manager, DNV GL – Business Assurance said: “Continuing our relationship with ResponsibleSteel™ was the logical thing to do. Having conducted pilot ResponsibleSteel readiness assessments in the steel industry during the past two years, based on draft versions of the standard, we have unique insight into the details of the standard and the challenges associated with making it auditable. This standard will give businesses and consumers, globally, the confidence that steel has been sourced and produced responsibly at all levels, and we are proud to continue our engagement with the sector and ResponsibleSteel™.

“It is vital for stakeholders to be ready to adopt the standard, set for finalisation and release in 2019. Our experience with practical implementation of the standard has us uniquely placed to help companies understand how to prepare for certification.”

Acting as a trusted independent third party, DNV GL has significant experience of certification schemes and sustainability. With a global technical expert network and on the ground experience of the practical challenges organisations face with emerging standards, the company brings extensive industry knowledge and experience, from many years in steel production.

Matthew Wenban-Smith, Executive Director, ResponsibleSteel™ said: “We are delighted that DNV GL is continuing in the role of Technical Partner. With their in-depth knowledge of the practical applicability of the draft standard, we have a highly experienced Technical Partner to support us in the development of the ResponsibleSteel™ Standard.”
