SteelZero

The steel industry is one of the largest global CO2 emitters and accounts for between 7% and 9% of greenhouse gas emissions. It is essential that the steel sector reduces its carbon emissions in order to fulfil the goals set out by the Paris Agreement.

That is why we have partnered with the Climate Group to create SteelZero – an initiative to accelerate the steel industry’s transition to net zero carbon emissions. Using the power and influence of our members, SteelZero aims to send a strong demand signal to shift global markets and policies towards responsible production and sourcing of steel.

Join SteelZero

All steel procurers, public procurement bodies, specifiers of steel, and companies involved in the steel supply chain at any stage after the production of crude steel are invited to join SteelZero.

In order to become a member, companies make a public commitment to procure 100% net zero steel by 2050 and an interim commitment to procure, specify or stock 50% of their steel requirement by 2030.
