The ResponsibleSteel International Production Standard is built around 13 Principles that define what responsible steel production means across environmental, social, and governance topics. These Principles include corporate leadership, governance systems, responsible sourcing, decommissioning and closure, occupational health and safety, labour rights, human rights, stakeholder engagement, local community impacts, climate change and GHG emissions, noise and waste management, water stewardship, and biodiversity protection.

Together, these Principles form the foundation for ResponsibleSteel certification and ensure that certified sites meet globally aligned expectations on responsible production.
