ResponsibleSteel support members and certified sites remain relevant with regards to international frameworks, standards, and emerging regulatory requirements where appropriate, while maintaining an independent multi-stakeholder standard-setting process. The revision process includes consideration of developments in related standards, initiatives, and regulations to support interoperability and reduce unnecessary duplication for users of the Production Standard.
Read our proposed changes relating to ESG Frameworks for more information.
ResponsibleSteel certification is valid for three years. During this period, certified sites must also undergo a surveillance audit (typically around 18 months after certification) to demonstrate ongoing conformance with the Production Standard and progress in addressing any non-conformities identified during the initial audit. At the end of the three-year period, sites must undergo recertification to maintain their certification status.
